Autopilot; New Hire Walkthrough Remote Location


**ONLY FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS IF YOU ARE COMPLETING THESE ACTIONS OUTSIDE OF AN ENERCON OFFICE**


Windows Autopilot is what ENERCON uses to provision new machines. It is a collection of technologies used to set up and pre-configure new devices, getting them ready for productive use.
Setup should happen 1-2 days before you plan on using the device.

Estimated Time to Complete Setup: 30-45 minutes (depending on internet speed)


Please connect to a stable network during the computer setup (Not a mobile hotspot, hotel wifi, or café wifi)


Setup Steps

  1. Unbox the device, plug it in to power, and turn it on.
  2. Select United States for the region and select "Yes"
  3. Select "US" for the keyboard layout and select "Yes"
  4. Select "Skip"
  5. Connect it to a wired or wireless network with internet access and select "Next"
  6. On the "Welcome to Enercon Services, Inc." page, specify your ENERCON e-mail address and select "Next"

  7. Enter your password and select "Next"

  8. At this stage, you will need to register for Azure Multifactor Authentication (MFA). Select "Set it up now" to start registration.
  9. On this screen, you will need to install the "Microsoft Authenticator App" on your mobile device.
  10. Please open your mobile device app store and search for "Microsoft Authenticator"
  11. You will want to choose the one with a blue lock icon (pictured below)
  12. Select "Install" on your mobile device
  13. Once Microsoft Authenticator app has finished installing, select “Open” on your mobile device.
  14. When you open this app for the first time, it will ask you to allow notifications, please be sure to select “Allow” when this comes up.
    **NOTE: If you do not select Allow, you will get an error message when adding your account in the steps to follow.**
  15. Go back to your machine, select "Next"
  16. Click "Next"
  17. On your mobile device, open the Microsoft Authenticator App and select the + icon to add account.
  18. Select "Work or school account"
  19. Select "Scan a QR code"
  20. Allow permissions in order for your camera to capture QR code.
  21. Hover over the QR code on your machine to scan the QR code.
    **NOTE: Do not scan the QR code in this article**
    **NOTE: If you are unable to scan the QR code or the session timed out, please reboot the machine and start process over.**
  22. Once you receive "Account added successfully" on your mobile device, you MUST go back to your machine and click "Next" to perform the test push.
    **NOTE: If you do not complete the test push step, you will not be fully enrolled**
  23. You will now get sent a "test" multifactor authentication. You should see a notification for approval on your mobile device. You will need to enter the code that is present on your machine screen to successfully authenticate.
    **NOTE: Do not enter the code in this article**
  24. Once you have entered the correct code, screen on your machine will show "Notification approved." Select "Next" to continue.
  25. After you have completed the Microsoft Authenticator registration, you will receive a "Success!" screen. Select "Done" to continue.
  26. On your mobile phone, you should now see an Enercon Services, Inc. and your ENERCON email address.
  27. Now that you have a registered device for multifactor authentication, you will receive an authentication request to approve your login. Open your Microsoft Authenticator app, and enter the number shown on your machine.
    **NOTE: Do not enter the code in this article**
  28. After you have successfully authenticated, your device will start setting up. It can take up to 20 minutes to finish setting up the device (device may reboot itself a few times)
  29. At the "Setting up your device for work" stage, it can take up to 20 minutes to finish.
  30. At the Windows login page, double click anywhere on the screen to pull up a login box.
  31. Select "Sign-in options"
    **NOTE: If you do not see "Sign-in options" right away, please perform a reboot and try again.**
  32. Select the FortiClient icon (red shield)
  33. Login with your ENERCON username (note that this is your email address without the @enercon.com piece) and password and press Enter.
  34. You will receive an app notification on your mobile device to approve authentication. Select the notification and then select “Approve” to approve the Login Request for VPN. 
    **NOTE: Only select “Approve” if YOU are attempting to login. If you are NOT trying to login, select "NO, IT'S NOT ME”. If you receive any unexpected notification to approve, please alert ENERCON IT immediately.**


    **NOTE: If you receive an error message related to domain not being available, restart the machine and try to login again.**


  35. Your machine will start performing the final setup and you will see "This might take several minutes." Please do not turn off your PC, it can take up to 10 minutes to finish.
  36. After that has completed, you will be brought to your Desktop screen
  37. You will receive a "Work or school account problem" notification at the bottom right of your screen. Double click the notification to fix.
  38. You will be redirected to the Account Settings for Work or School and a login prompt will appear. Input your ENERCON e-mail address and select "Next"
  39. Enter your password and select "Sign in"
  40. You will receive an authentication request to approve your login. Open your Microsoft Authenticator app, and enter the number shown on your machine.
    **NOTE: Do not enter the code in this article**
    **NOTE: Only Approve if YOU are attempting to login. If you are NOT trying to login, select “NO, IT'S NOT ME”. If you receive any unexpected notifications to approve, please alert ENERCON IT immediately.**
  41. On the "Stay signed in to all your apps" page, ensure that the box is checked and select "OK"
  42. On the "You're all set!" page, select "Done"
  43. You will now see your ENERCON account under the "Work or school account section" You can now close out of that window.
  44. At this stage, Autopilot has finished configuring your device for use, but you will see a variety of applications starting to install for the next 30-45 minutes.
  45. Once logged in you can go ahead and press "Ctrl + Alt + Del" and change your password
  46. You should have office applications available immediately after sign in (Outlook, Teams, Word, etc.). You can launch them from the start menu and sign in.
    **NOTE: Sometimes teams appears stuck on a splash page. You can safely right click Teams and "Quit." Re-launch from the start menu and it should open right up.**
  47. Later, you will receive a prompt to "Set BitLocker startup PIN. Enter your PIN in both boxes and select "Set PIN"
    You can set your PIN to whatever you would like.
    **NOTE: You will be required to enter this PIN each time your machine performs a reboot, so please memorize it.**

While you are waiting for applications and other settings to take place on your machine, you can perform the following:
