Before we get started, it's important to note that there are different types of Dell docking stations, and the steps for hooking them up may vary slightly. However, the basic process is the same for most models.

Step 1: Connect the Docking Station to Power

Plug in the power adapter to the docking station and connect it to a power outlet.


Step 2: Connect the Docking Station to Ethernet, Mouse, and Keyboard

  1. Locate the ethernet port near your office/cubicle (If you do not see a cable in your office/cubicle, please reach out to IT)
  2. Plug in ethernet cable to the docking station
  3. Plug in mouse and keyboard to the docking station


Step 3: Connect Your Monitors to the Docking Station

Most Dell docking stations have multiple video ports, so you can connect multiple monitors. Here's how to do it:

  1. Locate the HDMI or DisplayPort ports on your docking station.
  2. Connect your Dell monitors to the HDMI or DisplayPort ports on your docking station using the appropriate cables. Make sure the cables are securely connected.
  3. Plug in the power cable to each monitor and connect each of them to a power outlet.
  4. Turn on your monitors and make sure they're set to the correct input.

Step 4: Connect Your Docking Station to Your Laptop
